What is it about New Year's Day that just feels so clean and new? And with 2018 starting on a Monday it just made everything feel even brighter to me. Call me weird, but I love Mondays.

This year I took a little time to hit the refresh button on my home before heading back into the routine of life. I also love routines.

Today I wanted to share a few ways to hit refresh on your home.

1. Clear your countertop clutter.

Countertop clutter makes me go BADGER. I let it pile up to the point I can't handle it anymore and then I get a garbage bag and toss everything. One time I threw away my husband's passport because it was in a pile of papers. Have you ever dug through a garbage can to find a passport? I have.

If you need to, find a place to practically store things that often pile up on your counters. Keeping my flat surfaces clear is half the battle.

2. Rotate your artwork.

I love gallery walls and decorated mantles. But my home can only handle so much artwork. SO I rotate! The scripture verse print that hung by the back door goes to the mantle. The family photo canvas that was on the mantle goes to the gallery wall and the print from that wall goes somewhere else. It's a literal rotation.

3. Purge

If you're like my family a lot of things came into your house over the holiday season. So maybe it's time to grab a garbage bag and start donating things. Wanting to purge but don't know where to start, here are 50 things you can get rid of today.

4. Change up your soaps.

This one may sound a little strange but I swear it's one of my favorite things to do after the holidays. During Thanksgiving and Christmas, I love to use seasonal scented soaps for both dishes and as hand soap. But come January I like to switch to a lighter, cleaner scent.

I LOVE the Mrs. Meyers lavender scented products. It's lightly scented and just makes me happy. Funny story, one time we ran out of bubbles (what kind of mother am I??? GASP! I kid.). So I made bubbles using just a little dish soap and water. My neighbor commented on how great our bubbles smelled. Cracked me up.
