Five instant pot hacks that will change your life and save you money.png

I use my Instant Pot daily. Sometimes three times a day, breakfast lunch and dinner. I seriously get so much mileage out of it. I'm going to give you five tips for getting the most out of your Instant Pot, or any electric pressure cooker.

You can put the lid in the dishwasher.

I recently learned this. My mind was blown. You do have to take it apart. But it's super easy. And it gets it really clean. And gets that weird smell out of the rubber seal.

It has a lid rest

Tip number two, did you know your instant pot comes with a built-in lid rest? I didn't. And you'll see I burned my lid after I set it down on a hot stove (I didn't know it was hot).

But yes it comes with a built-in lid rest. It's these two sections on the side that look like handles. You twist the lid right off and set it down inside.

You can convert slow cooker recipes

If you're like me you're totally in love with your slow cooker. It's like having a chef. But if you're in a hurry, you forgot to get dinner out of the freezer, most slow cooker recipes can be adapted to your instant pot.You can convert your beloved slow cooker recipe to the instant pot and get it done in a fraction of the time.

If you’re looking for a conversion chart I found a great one here.

There are a few rules to remember:

  1. No dairy or sugary sauces because they will scorch.

  2. Do not use thickening agents

  3. Do not overfill.

The ladle is portion perfect!

That awesome ladle that comes with the pot is good for more than just the pressure cooker. It is the perfect size for muffins and cupcakes. And your waffle maker. You can use that thing to scoop out batter and it makes a perfectly portioned size.

Perfect eggs every time!

And finally, the selling point for me was eggs. We eat so many eggs because we have so many chickens. And the instant pot eggs are perfect.

How I cook hardboiled eggs in the instant pot:

Five minutes low pressure.

Allow to natural release

Coldwater bath for about 2 minutes.

But did you know how to peel them?

That's right. With a spoon. You just use the back of the spoon to break the broad end of the egg and then it just slips right off.

Were you peeling eggs wrong this whole time?
