The "I Ate too many cookies so I had to come up with a healthier cookie" cookie

Today has been a cookie dough kind of day. It was one of those days where the little things feel like big things and the bigger things feel like huge things.

It was one of those days when you just want to cry. But there were no tears. From me. There were plenty of tears from my little bit.

I am ashamed to say at one point, around 10 a.m. I found the cookie dough in the back of the freezer and took a big bite out of it like an apple. So. Much. Shame.

Next time I will just take a bite out of an apple. That will make me feel better... maybe?? ;)

Luckily for me I have come up with a "healthier" version of the chocolate chip cookie. Yes, it still has sugar in it. Baby steps, right?

What you'll need:

2 cups brown sugar (told you)

1 cup all-purpose unbleached flour

1 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup apple sauce!

1 tbsp flax seed-ground (you can omit this if you so desire)

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp imitation butter extract (you can omit this also, but it adds so much great buttery flavor) or 1 tsp vanilla flavoring

2 eggs

1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 and grease a cookie sheet - or two.

Combine your sugar, flour, flaxseed and baking powder, add your apple sauce, flavoring and eggs. Mix, mix, mix. Once mixed add in your chips.

I like to bake half the dough now and stick the rest of the dough in the freezer. They are so good. I promise you won't feel like you're missing out- you will taste a difference, I'm not going to lie, but a warm chocolate chip cookie is still a warm chocolate chip cookie. It glosses over a bad day all the same.
