Cookbooks for Colin: Help me raise money for a cystic fibrosis cure

Today I am doing something a little different. I am asking you to help me do something very important. And that is raise money for my friend's son. Colin is four years old. He has a sweet face and chubby cheeks. He loves doing all of the things that every other four year old boy on the planet loves doing.

But Colin is living with Cystic Fibrosis, a life-threatening, genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system.

Now through May 1 when you buy a copy of either of my two cookbooks 100 percent of the profits will go to Colin's Commandos who will walk in the Great Strides fundraising walk. All of the proceeds from the walk go to research to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

Colin's family walks every year at our their great strides event to raise awareness and to raise funds for research for a cure and advancements in treatments.

Colin was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was 3 weeks old. He requires daily treatments and therapies. He takes roughly 23 pills a day and 2 liquid prescriptions orally, and nebulizes up to 3 medications, takes 2 inhalers, along with 2 sessions of chest physiotherapy every day.

His mother, Rhonda, sent me this photo. This is the medication that Colin takes at breakfast.

I look at that photo and I think about all of the time Colin has been in the hospital and it breaks my mama heart.

My family prays for Colin daily. My Ryals, who is only 3, prays for Colin by name. We pray daily for healing and for a cure.

There is currently no cure for Cystic Fibrosis. But, there have been major breakthroughs with treatment since in the last 60 years. In the 1950s the median life span was 2-4 but is now 30's-40's.

But Colin deserves more than a 30 or 40-year life expectancy, his parents deserve better and the 30,000 people in the U.S. living with this disease deserve better.

What can you do?

Between now and May 1 all of the profits (ALL 100% from this website) of my two ecookbooks Around the Table: Family Friendly Meals in a Flash and The Poor Girl's Handbook to the Kitchen will go to Colin's Commandos

Both books are on sale right now for just $2.99 so it really is a steal and you are supporting a really great cause.

You can also purchase the books via Amazon to read on your Kindle. (I will donate ALL the proceeds after Amazon takes their cut.) You can order them by clicking here and here
